Protection of Personal Information Act compliance

Purpose of processing
We process personal information to respond to enquiries, assess fit for advisory engagements, deliver advisory services, and comply with legal and professional obligations. Processing is limited to what is necessary for these purposes.
Lawful basis
We rely on one or more of the following conditions: taking steps at the data subject's request prior to entering a contract; performance of a contract; compliance with a legal obligation; or our legitimate interests in operating the business lawfully and professionally.
Categories of information
Name, work email, company name, funding stage, contact details, and any context voluntarily provided during enquiries or advisory engagements. We do not process special personal information unless required by law.
Security safeguards
We take reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect personal information against loss, damage, unauthorised access, or unlawful processing. Where third-party service providers (such as email or hosting) process information on our behalf, appropriate safeguards are in place.
Retention
Personal information is retained only as long as necessary for the purposes described above, or as required by law, regulation, or professional obligations. Enquiry records from individuals who do not become clients are deleted within a reasonable period.
Trans-border transfers
Where personal information is transferred outside South Africa (for example through cloud-hosted services), we take reasonable steps to ensure the recipient is subject to a law, binding agreement, or binding rules that provide an adequate level of protection.
Your rights
Under the Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA), you may have the right to request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal information. Complaints
If you are not satisfied with our response, you have the right to lodge a complaint with the Information Regulator (South Africa) at inforegulator.org.za.
